Martin is a freelance journalist based in London.
Publications he has written for include The Guardian, Private Eye, The Independent, The Sun and The Mirror. He has also worked for the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in collaboration with BBC Newsnight.
Recent stories include a series of articles for Private Eye exposing the failings of the Care Quality Commission over the Winterbourne View care home scandal. He also revealed the financial losses made by George Osborne’s family business in The Guardian and exposed widespread mass data losses in government departments in a report for the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.
Martin graduated from the University of York in 2010, with a 2:1 in History and Politics. He was the editor of York Vision student newspaper and was shortlisted for ‘Guardian Student Reporter’ two years in a row. Under his editorship, the paper was also shortlisted twice for ‘Guardian Student Newspaper of the Year’.
He won the Guardian‘s Scott Trust bursary in 2011 and is completing an MA in Newspaper Journalism at City University.
