Home Office gave £746,000 in “special grants” to Madeline McCann case

Two “special grants” worth £525k and £221k were given to Leicestershire Constabulary to help fund the McCann case. The figures were disclosed recently by the Home Office.

To put this in context, The Independent reported in 2009 that around 275,000 Britons disappear every year, and between 16,000 and 20,000 of these people remain missing for at least 12 months.
